Carolyn MacGregor holds dual roles as Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering and Associate Dean, Teaching & Student Experience in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Her academic journey includes a PhD (1993) and MASc (1988) in Industrial Engineering (Human Factors) from the University of Toronto, alongside a BA in Psychology from Waterloo (1983).
Her research focuses on human factors engineering, cognitive ergonomics, virtual environments, and driver safety. Notable contributions include developing the 'veball' 3D input device and virtual trailblazing techniques. Teaching emphasizes user-centered design, interface design, and cognitive engineering methods.
Recent publications include work on collaborative team design in educational contexts. She currently holds Sole-Supervisory Privilege Status (SSPS) but is not accepting new graduate students.
