Carolyn Choo

Carolyn Choo is an Instructor and Properties Coordinator at the Department of Theatre, University of Victoria, with over 15 years of experience in theatre properties artistry. She serves as Faculty Head of Props for the Props Builder Practicum Program at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Her expertise spans scenic and wardrobe construction, and she has contributed to productions with organizations including the Canadian Opera Company, Shaw Festival, and Banff Centre.

She holds a BFA Honours in Technical Production from Toronto Metropolitan University, specializing in scenic and wardrobe construction techniques.

Her research focuses on theatre production methodologies, properties management innovations, and technical design for live performance. She develops pedagogical approaches for props construction curricula and mentors emerging theatre technicians.

As Technical Coordinator, she oversees all properties for departmental productions and maintains industry partnerships. Her practice integrates traditional craftsmanship with emerging digital fabrication techniques.
