Caroline Ruhl

Caroline Ruhl is a PostDoc researcher in the Department of Microbial Biotechnology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. She employs advanced methodologies including metabolomics and proteomics by mass spectrometry, isotopic tracer strategies, development of extraction and workup routines, and computational approaches to create quantitative metabolic network models. Her work bridges experimental biology with computational analysis to understand fundamental metabolic processes in photosynthetic microorganisms.

Dr. Ruhl's PhD thesis, titled 'Quantification of carbon and electron fluxes in the phototroph cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC6803,' established her expertise in metabolic flux analysis of cyanobacterial systems. Her research contributes to the broader field of sustainable biotechnology by exploring how photosynthetic microorganisms can be engineered for bioproduction applications.
