Caroline Pitzen is a filmmaker and artist working at the intersection of documentary and fiction. She has been an artistic researcher in the Film Department at the University of Art and Design Offenbach am Main since April 2022, focusing on forms of reality representation and historical exploration through long-term, collaborative processes.
- Studied cultural/social sciences (Frankfurt/Oder, Madrid) and art/media (Berlin University of the Arts under Thomas Arslan)
- Co-founder of Atelier Izola (interdisciplinary project space) and member of OKNO film collective
- Feature film debut FREIZEIT or: the opposite of doing nothing premiered at Berlin Critics' Week (2021) and Cinéma du Réel (Paris)
Since 2016, she has taught artistic documentary film in international programs including Cinema en curs and Leuphana University Lüneburg. Her practice combines formal research with experimental storytelling, often challenging boundaries between historical documentation and creative interpretation.
