Caroline Muthoni

Caroline Muthoni is a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Law, Åbo Akademi University, Finland. Under the supervision of Professor Gunilla Widén and Docent Kristina Eriksson-Backa, she focuses on gender-based violence prevention and information behavior in crisis contexts.

Research Overview:

• Specializes in digital information strategies for sexual violence prevention
• Examines women's safety networks in Kenyan crisis environments
• Investigates digital literacy and social media's role in crisis response

Recent Publications: Her 2019 thesis and 2020 peer-reviewed conference article in Information Research establish critical frameworks for understanding how women in Kenya utilize information systems to combat sexual gender-based violence.
