Caroline McCaffrey-Howarth

Dr. Caroline McCaffrey-Howarth is a Visiting Research Fellow at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, University of Leeds, and serves as Curator of 17th and 18th Century Ceramics and Glass at the V&A Museum, London. She teaches postgraduate courses on country houses and material culture at the Royal College of Art and previously held a Teaching Fellowship at the University of Leeds (2019–2020).

• Specializes in European decorative arts, material culture, and collecting histories (1600–1900)
• Focuses on transnational collection networks and ceramics connoisseurship
• Examines intersections between fine and decorative arts in art historical discourse

Her articles explore topics such as political symbolism in ceramics, collecting ethics, and interdisciplinary methodologies. Current projects include a monograph on Sèvres porcelain networks and research on Lady Dorothy Nevill’s role as a collector and cultural agent.
