Dr. Caroline J. Charpentier is an Assistant Professor in Psychology & Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Maryland, College Park, leading the Social Learning and Decisions Lab. Her work focuses on neural and computational mechanisms of social learning, decision-making under emotion, and their implications for psychopathology. Previously, she held postdoctoral positions at Caltech (2016-2023), including a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship at University College London (2020-2021). She earned a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from University College London (2016) and degrees from École Normale Supérieure in Lyon (2009-2011).
Her research integrates fMRI, computational modeling, and behavioral tasks to study social learning variability across individuals, including those on the autism spectrum. Key interests include information-seeking biases, emotion's influence on decisions, and translational psychiatry approaches.
