Dr. Caroline Emberson is an Assistant Professor in Operations Management at the University of Nottingham's Nottingham University Business School. She is affiliated with the Rights Lab’s Business and Economies Programme, focusing on ethical challenges in global supply chains and care systems.
Her research centers on modern slavery risks in adult social care, including projects on financial transparency in England’s care market, labor vulnerability in London’s care sector, and domestic servitude in personalized care services. She has secured funding from the Economic and Social Research Council, Trust for London, and Anti-Slavery International.
Emberson has contributed to national and international policy discussions, advising the UK Joint Committee on Human Rights, UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary slavery, and Canadian Government. She has also organized workshops for local government and NHS on mitigating modern slavery risks in care systems.
