Caroline Dart

Professor Caroline Dart specializes in cardiovascular physiology at the University of Liverpool Biochemistry Department, investigating cellular signaling mechanisms controlling vascular smooth muscle contractility and blood pressure regulation.

Research employs patch clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and FRET biosensors to study potassium channels, cAMP signaling via Epac proteins, and caveolae microdomains in vascular function. Current projects examine spatiotemporal cAMP dynamics in human vascular smooth muscle.

Funding includes grants from British Heart Foundation and BBSRC supporting work on vascular K_ATP channels. Recognized with Royal Society Fellowship (2004) and institutional leadership roles including Athena SWAN committee.
