About
Dr. Caroline Andow is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Bournemouth University and Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Criminology with Psychology degree. Previously, she held a Senior Lecturer position at the University of Winchester. Her research focuses on secure children's homes, youth justice, and ethnographic methodologies. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton (2016) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Interests Dr. Andow’s work centers on the lived experiences of children in secure residential units. Using ethnographic methods, she examines institutional dynamics, educational outcomes, and the ethical implications of secure care systems. Her current projects include collaborative efforts to redesign secure homes using a child-first approach and improving interprofessional practices in youth justice settings.
