Carolina Trigo is an artist, designer, and researcher affiliated with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Design Media Arts department, part of the School of the Arts and Architecture. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy (Magna Cum Laude) from the European Graduate School, supervised by Catherine Malabou and Judith Butler, alongside advanced degrees in Philosophy and Fine Arts. Her practice focuses on performance and text-based explorations of impurity, politics, and transformability.
Trigo has taught extensively across institutions including UCLA, Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), Art Center College of Design, Aalto University (Finland), and the University of Jyväskylä. Her academic roles span the Mediascapes Program, Visual Studies Program, and SCIFI Graduate Programs (MDesR) at SCI-Arc, as well as design and art departments in Japan, Finland, and Argentina.
Her research and creative work have been exhibited globally, including in the U.S., Germany, Finland, and Argentina. Awards include the Graphis Gold Medal for Design and recognition as a top instructor. She has also lectured at institutions such as the University of the Arts Helsinki and Mundaneum in Argentina.
