Carolin Heizmann

Carolin Heizmann is a researcher at the Human-Technology Interaction Lab, affiliated with the Medical Center – University of Freiburg and the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics at the University of Mannheim. Her work bridges cognitive ergonomics, medical technology, and ethical AI development.

• Education: Master’s in Human Factors (Technische Universität Berlin), Bachelor’s in Business Psychology (Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences)

Her research explores participatory and ethics-oriented design methodologies for AI systems, social robots, and neurotechnologies in healthcare. Key focuses include value alignment, user trust, and contextual factors influencing technology acceptance. She employs Ethics-by-Design and Participatory Action Research frameworks to ensure inclusive and responsible innovation.
