Carolin Formella

Carolin Formella is a doctoral student and Research Fellow affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research) and the Munich Graduate School of Economics at LMU Munich. Her research focuses on Migration, Innovation, Development Economics, and Gender Economics.

• Education: M.Sc. (2018–2021) and B.Sc. (2014–2017) in Economics from LMU Munich.
• Work Experience: Research Assistant (2018–2021) and Junior Research Fellow (2021–present) at Max Planck Institute; internships at CEPS (Brussels), Munich RE, and BayernInvest.

Her research examines how migration policies influence knowledge flows in science and innovation, as well as the economic impacts of job advertisements in healthcare. She actively participates in initiatives like The Women in Economics Initiative and the ECONnect Program at LMU Munich.

Carolin has presented her work at seminars and conferences, including the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and the CESifo Venice Summer Institute 2022.
