Carol Snively is Associate Director of Academic Affairs and Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri's School of Social Work (College of Health Sciences). She holds a PhD (2002) and MSW (1996) from Ohio State University, an MA from Vermont College (1986), and a BA from Capital University (1985).
Her practice focuses on mental health and addiction treatment for youth/families and community organization with sexual minority populations. Research examines youth development, strengths-based community approaches, effective strategies for sexual minority youth, and graduate student engagement in educational culture/belonging/wellness. Teaching interests include mental health policy/practice, child/adolescent interventions, and majority-minority relations.
Publications reflect consistent themes in LGBTQ+ youth support, community empowerment frameworks, and clinical training methodologies. Recent works analyze gay-straight alliances (2015) and violence resistance strategies (2013), while earlier publications address substance abuse screening pedagogy (2012) and homophobia in practice settings (2004).
