About
Carol Chen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Faculty of Medicine, BC Cancer Research Centre. She leads the Chen Lab, which investigates epigenetic mechanisms in brain cancer and neurodevelopmental syndromes through integrative approaches combining patient-derived samples, cerebral organoids, and transgenic animal models with advanced sequencing technologies.
- Research Focus: Epigenetic regulation in disease initiation/maintenance, therapeutic resistance mechanisms, histone modifier mutations, childhood brain tumor drivers
- Methodologies: Multi-omics integration, patient-derived xenografts, organoid modeling, CRISPR screening
Her recent publications highlight epigenetic discoveries in brain tumors, neurodevelopmental pathologies, and cancer immunoevasion mechanisms. Dr. Chen's work spans both basic science and translational applications, with affiliations at Terry Fox Laboratory and BC Cancer Research Institute.
