Carmine Rocca is Assistant Professor of Physiology (BIOS-06/A) at the University of Calabria. His research focuses on cardiovascular pathophysiology, cardiac metabolism, and cardioprotective mechanisms against myocardial ischemia, hypertension, and chemotherapy-induced injury. He holds an international patent (WO/2019/068682) and serves on editorial boards including Journal of Translational Medicine and Frontiers in Endocrinology.
Rocca obtained dual PhDs from the University of Calabria and INSERM U1239 at the University of Rouen Normandy. His laboratory investigates molecular pathways in cardiac dysfunction using preclinical models, with recent work exploring selenoprotein-mediated cardioprotection, lipotoxicity countermeasures using flavonoid compounds, and redox signaling. He is Executive Board Member of the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Research and member of the International Society for Heart Research.
