About
Carlos Rodriguez Osorio is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Santiago de Compostela. He is affiliated with the Institute for Aquatic Research for Global Health (iARCUS) and the Strategic Grouping in Sustainable Management and Production of Bioresources (BioReDes), and is a key member of the GIPA Aquaculture Pathology Research Group.
His research focuses on microbiology and aquaculture pathology, particularly the genetic characterization of fish pathogenic bacteria such as Photobacterium damselae. His work includes studies on ribosomal operons, microevolution, and the development of molecular diagnostic tools for aquatic diseases. These efforts contribute to sustainable aquaculture and global aquatic health.
Dr. Rodriguez Osorio earned his PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2000 with a thesis on the genetic characterization of Photobacterium damselae, supervised by Dra. Alicia E. Toranzo and Dr. Jesus López Romalde.
He is actively involved in research through his participation in iARCUS and the BioReDes strategic group, focusing on the sustainable management and production of bioresources. His work integrates molecular microbiology with practical applications in aquaculture health and disease control.
