Carlos Mulet Forteza

Dr. Carlos Mulet Forteza is a Full Professor in the Department of Business Economics within the Financial Economics and Accounting area at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He joined UIB in 2001 and holds significant administrative positions including Pro Vice-Chancellor of Economics and Infrastructures since 2021, President of the Quality Assurance Commission for the Master's Degree in Accounting and Auditing since 2022, and Secretary of the Academic Committee for PhD studies in Tourism since 2017.

His educational background includes a Degree in Business Administration from the University of the Balearic Islands (2001) and a PhD in Economics from the University Jaume I of Castelló (2010).

Dr. Mulet Forteza's research spans multiple domains within business economics and accounting:

• Analysis of tourism companies and destinations
• Banking efficiency studies
• Analysis of non-profit entities
• Bibliometric research
• Financial statement analysis using compositional data (CoDA)
• Application of fuzzy techniques for uncertainty analysis

He serves as Principal Investigator of the research group 'Business management and tourist destinations' (DIREGEST) and collaborates with other UIB research groups including 'Models for Fuzzy Information Processing (MOTIBO)' and 'Economic and accounting aspects of social economy entities'.

His academic leadership extends to professional organizations where he serves as National Secretary of AECIT (Spanish Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism) since 2020 and regularly participates in activities organized by the Ilustre Colegio de Economistas de las Islas Baleares and ASEPUC (Spanish Association of University Accounting Professors).

Dr. Mulet Forteza has supervised more than 100 final degree projects, over 50 master's theses, and 6 doctoral theses across various programs including Business Administration, Tourism, Economics, and the Master's Degree in Accounting and Auditing.

His teaching portfolio includes courses in Account Analysis and Auditing, Financial Accounting, and specialized auditing courses across multiple degree programs including the Double Degree in Business Administration and Law, Double Degree in Business Administration and Tourism, and the Master's Degree in Accounting and Auditing where he teaches Financial Auditing I-III and International Legislation and Consolidation.
