Carla Ackerson

Dr. Carla J. Ackerson is a Teaching Professor at Texas State University's School of Social Work, serving since 2013. Previously a Clinical Lecturer at Texas A&M University-Commerce, she brings 14 years of leadership experience as director of Communities in Schools of Northeast Texas. Her expertise includes organizational management, political advocacy, grant writing, and community organization.

• Presidency of Child Advocacy Center of NE Texas
• Current CASA Volunteer for CASA-San Antonio

She holds a doctorate in higher education from Texas A&M University-Commerce, specializing in academic entitlement research. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in both campus and online formats, emphasizing student interaction and collaborative learning.
