Prof. Carl Philpott is a Professor of Rhinology & Olfactology at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Honorary Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Norfolk & Waveney ENT Service. He leads research on chronic sinusitis and smell/taste disorders, including the MACRO Programme (NIHR-funded £3.2M trial). Affiliated with Norwich Medical School and the Respiratory and Airways Group, his expertise spans olfactory disorders, rhinosinusitis, and endoscopic surgery techniques.
Education: MB ChB from Leicester University Medical School (1998), MD in Olfactory Threshold Testing (2008).
Research: Focuses on anosmia, sinus surgery innovation, and post-COVID chemosensory dysfunction. Leads MACRO and ICAST initiatives.
