Carl Longmore

Carl Longmore is a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) at the University of Wolverhampton, specializing in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and Inclusion. He works within the Faculty of Education, Health & Wellbeing, contributing to teacher training programs with a focus on primary education. His role includes leading the development of a Virtual School platform to enhance experiential learning for trainee teachers.

Carl’s research focuses on inclusive education, particularly through virtual learning spaces, occupational socialization of teachers working with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and the impact of international teaching placements. He collaborates with professionals across health, social care, and education sectors, integrating expertise into ITE programs.

His published work examines pedagogical strategies for SEMH pupils in physical education, emphasizing adaptive teaching practices. Recent articles highlight the role of occupational socialization in shaping educators’ approaches to behavioral difficulties.
