Carl HAVELANGE

Carl HAVELANGE is a Historian and photographer serving as an FNRS Research Fellow at the University of Liège. Elected as a Full member of the Arts Class of the Royal Academy of Belgium on March 26, 2018, he actively contributes to national scholarly discourse through presentations at academy sessions.

His research focuses on Historical Documentation of Fragile Cultural Environments, combining historical methodology with photographic practice. The 2022 presentation Expressive Power of Fragile Worlds demonstrates his interdisciplinary approach to preserving endangered cultural narratives through visual and textual documentation.

As a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium (Rue Ducale 1, 1000 Brussels), Havelange participates in high-level academic exchanges that shape Belgium's cultural policy and historical scholarship. His work bridges academic research with practical heritage documentation through photography.
