Dr. Cara Delay is a Professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of South Carolina. She holds degrees from Boston College and Brandeis University. Her research focuses on health, gender, and culture in Europe and the United States, with an emphasis on reproduction, pregnancy, and childbirth. She has authored or co-authored multiple books, including Women, Reform, and Resistance in Ireland, 1850-1950 and Catching Fire: Women’s Health Activism in Ireland and the Global Movement for Reproductive Justice.
Dr. Delay’s awards include the Fulbright Scholarship and fellowships from the American Association of University Women, Coordinating Council for Women in History, Nursing Clio, and the Donnelly Foundation. She teaches courses in women’s health, women’s history, and reproduction.
Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary activism, contributing to interdisciplinary dialogues on reproductive justice and gendered healthcare practices.
