About
Candice Bridge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Central Florida. She leads research on trace evidence forensic materials using mass spectrometry to enhance evidentiary validity.
Her group focuses on: 1) Characterization of lubricant evidence from sexual assaults; 2) Gunshot residue analysis; 3) Detection of drugs/masking agents in biological samples. Bridge also investigates ionization mechanisms in ambient ionization-direct mass spectrometry techniques.
Recent publications establish standardized protocols for sexual lubricant databases, error rate quantification in fingerprint chemistry, and multispectral analysis techniques for forensic materials. Her work advances analytical rigor in evidentiary interpretation.
