Canan Girgin

Canan Girgin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Building Sciences at Yıldız Technical University (YTU), Faculty of Architecture. She has held academic positions since 2005, transitioning from Assistant Professor to her current role in 2011. Her expertise includes structural system design education and research in applied mechanics, earthquake engineering, and sustainable energy technologies.

Education:

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1988)
• Master's in Structural Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1990)
• Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1996)

Research & Professional Contributions:

Dr. Girgin has authored over 50 articles and research reports, with 7 publications indexed by SCI. Her work focuses on advanced concrete technologies, FRP-confined columns, and seismic design. She led multiple R&D projects at Yapı Merkezi Holding (1997–2005) and currently oversees ongoing projects at YTU.
