Camilo Alvarez is a Ted DeLaney Postdoctoral Fellow in Economics at Washington and Lee University (W&L), joining in fall 2021. His research focuses on international macroeconomic and monetary economics, particularly sovereign debt and its intersections with political economy factors. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. from the University of Miami.
Previously, Alvarez worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and the Minnesota Population Center. At W&L, he teaches 'Economy of Latin America' and emphasizes collaborative research and teaching. He values W&L’s strong sense of community, noting the engaged students and supportive faculty environment.
