Cameron Ballard-Rosa

Introduction

Cameron Ballard-Rosa is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He serves as Director of Placement for the Department of Political Science and is a faculty affiliate of the Princeton Sovereign Finance Lab. His research focuses on political economy, international relations, and comparative politics, with a particular emphasis on sovereign debt, fiscal crises, and the political implications of economic change.

Research

Ballard-Rosa’s work examines the political logic of sovereign debt default, urban-rural conflicts, and the effects of economic change on authoritarian values. His book Democracy, Dictatorship, and Default (Cambridge University Press, 2020) explores how regime types influence sovereign debt decisions. His recent research includes studies on globalization backlash, trade policy, and the denominational preferences of sovereign bonds.
