Callum Highmore

Dr Callum Highmore is a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on biofilm infections, bacterial diagnostics, and Raman spectroscopy applications. He is a member of the National Biofilms Innovation Centre and collaborates on projects addressing WHO priority pathogens and antimicrobial resistance.

His work integrates advanced spectroscopic techniques with clinical needs, aiming to develop rapid diagnostic tools for bacterial infections. Recent publications highlight contributions to label-free detection methods and strain-level characterization of pathogens in complex media.

Dr Highmore supervises two PhD students in Biological Sciences and actively engages in interdisciplinary research groups. His research bridges fundamental microbiology and clinical practice, with applications in pediatric infection management and public health.
