Callum Barrell

Callum Barrell is an Associate Professor of Political Thought and Head of Sustainable Curriculum at Northeastern University London since 2016. He teaches courses on political philosophy, international relations theory, and green political thought. His academic leadership roles include Acting Head of Faculty, Senior Tutor, and Postgraduate Coordinator. He holds a PhD in History of Political Thought from Queen Mary University of London (2015), an MPhil from the University of Cambridge (2011), and a BA in History from Cambridge (2010). His research bridges the history of philosophy and political thought, focusing on the philosophy of history, environmental thought, and the Anthropocene. His book *History and Historiography in Classical Utilitarianism, 1800-1865* (Cambridge UP, 2021) repositions utilitarians as thinkers deeply engaged with historical narratives. He has presented papers on Mill’s universal history at Trinity College (2018) and Christ Church (2018), and previously taught at Queen Mary University of London.
