Callum Atkinson

Callum Atkinson is a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Sunderland. He is a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with extensive experience in psychiatric intensive care, long-term rehabilitation, and military mental healthcare. His career includes roles in the Royal Air Force, where he managed aeromedical evacuation and mental health treatment for active military personnel, and community services supporting veterans in the north-east of England.

Teaching: He contributes to the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice program.

Research: His interests focus on military mental healthcare, particularly the treatment and support of veterans and active service members. He emphasizes evidence-based practices informed by his frontline experience in both clinical and military settings.
