About
Callie Mady is a Professor in the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University, where she teaches in teacher education, Aboriginal certification, and graduate programs. She holds a PhD from OISE/University of Toronto with a focus on second language education. Her research examines French as a second language (FSL) education and multilingual acquisition, particularly among minority populations (immigrants, students with learning difficulties).
Current SSHRC-funded projects investigate English/French achievement in Grade 6 French immersion students, inclusion of special needs learners in FSL, and core French for allophone students. She has co-authored FSL textbooks (e.g., Connexions, Suivez moi) and edited Minority Populations in Canadian Second Language Education.
Research explores immigrant achievement in FSL, language teacher education, and pedagogical innovations.
