Caleb Knapp is a Lecturer in the Department of History at Yale University, specializing in American literature and culture, gender and sexuality studies, and histories of slavery and abolition. His research examines how 19th-century debates over racial slavery influenced modern sexual knowledges in the US. His work has been supported by grants from the American Studies Association, Massachusetts Historical Society, and Mellon Foundation. He recently published an essay on same-sex sexual violence under slavery in History of the Present.
His current book project explores intersections between slavery, sexual politics, and literary culture. Knapp's office is located in HQ C47.
