Caleb J. Gayle is an Associate Professor at Northeastern University, affiliated with the Department of Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies and the Africana Studies Program. He also serves as Associate Director of the Center for Communication, Media Innovation, and Social Change, and a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Law, Equity, and Race at the School of Law.
Gayle holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MPP from Harvard’s Kennedy School, and an MSc from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on race, identity, and marginalized communities, particularly Black Creek citizenship, reparations, and public memory. His award-winning book We Refuse to Forget (2022) examines the historical and contemporary struggles of Black Creek people.
His articles and journalism have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, and The New Republic, among others. He has been recognized with fellowships from Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute and Columbia University, as well as numerous literary awards.
