About
Cale Johnson is Professor of Wissensgeschichte des Altertums (History of Knowledge in Antiquity) at Freie Universität Berlin. He studied Assyriology, Comparative Semitics, Linguistics, and Linguistic Anthropology at UCLA (1996–2004), with two years at Kyoto University (1999–2001). His academic career includes postdoctoral work at Freie Universität Berlin’s Institut für Altorientalistik, TOPOI, and Episteme in Bewegung (SFB 980), deputy leadership of the BabMed Project (2013–2018), and teaching roles at Leiden University and the University of Birmingham. Current research focuses on Mesopotamian medical treatises and administrative archives.
