Caitlin Murphy, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health and a Member of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research. She specializes in cancer epidemiology, focusing on young adult cancer patients and outcomes across the cancer care continuum.
- Education: PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, MPH in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science from UTHealth School of Public Health.
Her research interests include cancer etiology, risk assessment, screening, treatment adherence, and survivorship, particularly in underserved populations. Current projects include National Cancer Institute-funded research on early-onset colorectal cancer risk factors, U.S. Department of Defense-funded studies on fertility in young cancer survivors, and American Cancer Society-funded work on treatment adherence in underserved young adults with cancer.
Dr. Murphy leads the AYA STAR Lab, a team dedicated to improving outcomes for adolescents and young adults with cancer. She previously served on faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
