About
Caitlin Madison is a Lecturer at Texas A&M University's Department of Psychology, based in the PSYC 290 office. Her research focuses on neuro-immuno-metabolic axes, particularly investigating selective aryl hydrocarbon receptor modulators (SAhRMs) in affective disorders and Parkinson’s disease. She also explores opioid effects on social behavior, nanoparticle drug delivery systems, and the interplay between diet, stress, and mental health. Current research includes studying SAhRMs’ role in metabolic syndrome prevention and early life stress impacts.
Her work integrates pharmacological, behavioral, and nanotechnology approaches across multiple disciplines including neuropharmacology, neuroimmunology, and translational medicine. Notable areas include developing novel therapies for depression and PTSD using buprenorphine and investigating microbiome influences on opioid efficacy. Recent studies emphasize sex-dependent responses to therapeutic compounds and BBB-targeted nanoparticle systems.
Dr. Madison collaborates with faculty advisor Shoshana Eitan and maintains active research in stress sensitivity modulation, neurodegenerative disease models, and preclinical drug testing. She is currently not accepting new students for 2024-2025 academic year.
Key technical innovations include magnetic nanoparticle drug delivery systems and pharmacokinetic modeling for brain targeting. Her research bridges basic neuroscience with translational applications, addressing critical gaps in understanding comorbid mental/physical health conditions.
