CHRISTINE NYAWAGA

Christine Nyawaga is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Memphis, affiliated with the College of Communication & Film. Her research focuses on identity management in professional contexts, workplace dynamics for marginalized groups, and the intersection of race, socioeconomic status, and mental health. She holds an office in the Arts & Communication Building (Room 225) and can be reached at cnyawaga@memphis.edu.

Her recent work explores how Black professionals navigate identity expression on enterprise social media and manage workplace tensions through professionalism. She also investigates mental health disparities among older Kenyans linked to socioeconomic factors and family support systems.

Her articles consistently address issues of equity and representation in both organizational and healthcare contexts. While no academic awards are currently listed, her research demonstrates a commitment to understanding systemic challenges faced by underrepresented groups.
