CHRISTFRIEDE GALATZER

CHRISTFRIEDE GALATZER is a Professor of German Language Interpreting Techniques at the University of Bologna's SSLiMIT, where she teaches undergraduate and master's programs in Linguistic Mediation and Conference Interpreting. She has held academic roles since 1984 at institutions including the Higher School of Interpreters and Translators in Rome, the University of Perugia, and the University of Messina. Her teaching focuses on German, English, and interpreting techniques, with a tenure as Academic Coordinator at the Higher School in Ostia/Rome (1999–2010).

• Education: Diploma in Interpreting/Translation (German/English) and Parliamentary Interpreting (German) from the Higher School of Interpreters and Translators, Rome (1983).

Her research and professional practice emphasize theological/philosophical, music, and theater translations. She has published translations in specialized journals and worked as a trusted interpreter for Der Spiegel (1984–1993) and L'Osservatore Romano (translating papal speeches, 1984–1989). She also contributed voice work for RAI's Vienna New Year's Concert commentary (since 2013) and documentary films.

Her professional interpreting career spans over 40 years, serving institutions like the European Parliament, Austrian Embassy, Holy See, and media outlets such as RAI, Mediaset, and Sky. She has been a lecturer in advanced interpreting courses for the Italian Ministry of the Interior and the University of International Studies Rome (since 2014).
