CAROLINA TORRON CASAL

Carolina Torron Casal is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Department of Particle Physics within the Faculty of Physics. She is a member of the Strategic Grouping in Materials (AEMAT) and the Quantum Materials and Photonics Group (QMatterPhotonics). Her research focuses on condensed matter physics, particularly quantum materials, photonics, and superconductivity.

Education:

• Doctorate from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1992).
• Thesis: "Contribution to the study of diamagnetism induced by fluctuations above the superconducting transition of copper oxides" supervised by Dr. Felix Vidal Costa.

Research Interests: Carolina’s work explores phenomena in quantum materials, including diamagnetism and superconductivity in copper oxides. Her group investigates photonics applications and materials science within the AEMAT strategic framework.

Labs/Teams: She leads the QMatterPhotonics research group, focusing on interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of quantum materials and photonics.
