C. Trevor McMurray

C. Trevor McMurray is an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Cumberland University, teaching online courses in the School of Humanities, Education, and the Arts. His career spans law enforcement, financial investigations, and academia. He holds a PhD in Leadership with a concentration in Justice Administration from the University of the Cumberlands, along with an MBA and master’s in justice administration. Prior to academia, he served as a Supervisory Special Agent with the IRS-CI, investigating financial crimes, and held roles in police departments, accounting firms, and state police.

His research and professional interests focus on criminal justice administration, financial crime prevention, and leadership in law enforcement. McMurray’s career highlights include roles in the Bristol Tennessee Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the IRS-CI, where he supervised investigations in Roanoke. Beyond academia, he is a world-class Highlands Games Athlete, finishing second in the Master’s World Championships (2019, 2021).
