C. Mohan

Dr. C. Mohan is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University (China), a Consultant to Microsoft's Data Team (USA), and an Advisor to the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency and Kerala Blockchain Academy (India). He retired from IBM in 2020 as an IBM Fellow, where he spent 38.5 years in research across databases, blockchain, AI, and related fields. His notable contributions include the ARIES family of algorithms for database systems and the Presumed Abort distributed commit protocol.

Academically, he served as IBM India Chief Scientist (2006–2009) and held the Shaw Visiting Professorship at the National University of Singapore (2021). He is a Fellow of IBM, ACM, and IEEE, and was elected to both the US and Indian National Academies of Engineering. His research focuses on AI, blockchain, big data, and HTAP technologies.

Dr. Mohan has received numerous awards, including the ACM SIGMOD Innovations Award and VLDB Best Paper Award. He holds 50 patents and is an active speaker, having presented in 43 countries. He maintains a strong social media presence and advocates for permissioned blockchain technologies.
