Burak DOĞU

Prof. Burak DOĞU is a Professor and current Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), specializing in New Media and Communication. He holds a Ph.D. from Ege University and has conducted research at the University of Turin and University of Eastern Piedmont. His academic career includes roles as Head of the Department of New Media and Communication (2018–2020), Vice Dean (2015–2021), and Director of the EKOKENT Research Center (2020–2025). He has been a research fellow at NYU's Sociology Department (2016–2017).

Research Interests: Prof. Doğu’s work focuses on environmental communication, framing, social movements, digital media, and networking. His research combines network analysis with qualitative methods to study media ecosystems and civil society organizations.

Recent Contributions: Recent studies include environmental activism on Twitter, Turkey’s film industry networks, and the political implications of social movements in hybrid regimes. His work has been published in journals like International Journal of Communication and Democratization.

Projects: He has led projects funded by TÜBİTAK and international organizations, analyzing social media methodologies during elections and media NGO landscapes in Turkey. Current administrative roles include overseeing IUE’s communication programs and research initiatives.

Teaching: Courses include Communication Theories, Digital Media Cultures, and Media Production. He supervises senior projects and master’s theses, emphasizing practical research in communication studies.
