Bulent Yener is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) with a courtesy appointment in Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering. He serves as the founding Director of the Data Science Research Center and Associate Director of the Institute for Data Exploration and Applications (IDEA). He holds a Ph.D. (1994) and M.S. (1987) in Computer Science from Columbia University and previously worked at Bell Laboratories.
Research Focus: Dr. Yener's work spans interdisciplinary applications of machine learning and data science, with core domains including:
- Bioinformatics/medical informatics: Tuberculosis pathogenesis modeling, computational pathology, and biomarker discovery
