About
Professor Bryce Vissel leads research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNSW Sydney, focusing on Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and spinal disorders. His work spans molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, neural basis of learning/memory, and movement disorders.
Vissel has critically examined amyloid-targeting therapies and mouse models in Alzheimer's research. His group investigates AMPA receptor editing, microglial activation, and neuroinflammation in disease pathogenesis.
His lab utilizes diverse models including 6-OHDA lesioned mice and hAPP-J20 Alzheimer's models. Research outputs contribute to understanding glutamate excitotoxicity, TNF signaling, and neuroprotective strategies.
