Dr Bryan Singer is an Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of Sussex's School of Psychology, leading the Singer Neuro Lab and directing the Sussex Addiction Research & Intervention Centre (SARIC). His work focuses on the neurobiological and psychological underpinnings of addiction, impulsivity, and motivated behavior. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan.

Research Interests: Dr Singer’s lab investigates addiction mechanisms through multi-disciplinary approaches, including rodent models and human clinical studies. Key areas include:

- Individual differences in addiction susceptibility
- Neuroplasticity in addiction and recovery
- Developing interventions for gambling and substance use disorders

- Recent grants include studies on childhood stress and gambling disorder (International Center for Responsible Gaming, 2025) and food memory mechanisms (BBSRC, 2023)
Teaching & Supervision: Teaches courses on biological psychology, cognition in clinical contexts, and research methods. Supervises PhD and master’s students in addiction neuroscience and mental health interventions.
