Bryan Reynolds is Distinguished Professor and Claire Trevor Professor at UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts, specializing in performance studies, critical theory, and Shakespeare. He holds degrees from UC Berkeley (BA) and Harvard (MA/PhD).
Research spans transversal poetics, performance philosophy, cognitive neuroscience, and global activism. His publications analyze extreme performance, Zapatista murals, and Shakespearean adaptations through Deleuzian and Guattarian frameworks.
As Artistic Director of Amsterdam-based Transversal Theater Company, his plays have been performed in 19 countries. Recent interdisciplinary work explores dopamine receptor effects on behavior and molecular foundations of consciousness.
