Dr. Bryan Porter serves as Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), having joined in late spring 2025 after beginning his academic career at Old Dominion University in 1996. He concurrently holds leadership in the International Association of Applied Psychology as President of Division 13 (Traffic and Transportation Psychology).

- M.S. in Experimental Psychology from The University of Memphis (1994)
- Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from The University of Memphis (1996)
Dr. Porter's research program centers on traffic psychology, employing interdisciplinary approaches to understand roadway behavior and enhance safety outcomes. His work integrates experimental psychology with transportation engineering, human factors analysis, and behavioral safety interventions. This research is supported by significant grant funding that actively involves both undergraduate and graduate research assistants.
As a recognized scholar, Dr. Porter served as past co-editor-in-chief of Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour and edited the Handbook of Traffic Psychology. He maintains strong community engagement through traffic safety conferences and media consultations on roadway behavior.
