Bryan Norton is a Visiting Assistant Professor of German at Haverford College, specializing in media and the environment within German literature, philosophy, and visual culture. His research examines aesthetic forms and media formats addressing the intersection of climate crisis, postcolonial upheaval, and technological disruption throughout modernity.
He earned a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Pennsylvania (2022) and has held visiting positions at Paris VIII, National Autonomous University of Mexico, and Friedrich-Schiller University Jena. Norton is author of the forthcoming book Planetary Idealism: German Romanticism and the Technics of Nature (Stanford University Press) and co-editor of special issues on planetary thinking and post-Stiegler technics.
