About
Dr. Bryan Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at McMaster University. He teaches courses in biomaterials, statistics, sustainability, and sustainable manufacturing processes. His research focuses on biomaterials design, cell-material interface analysis, and sustainable development goals, with a particular interest in creating novel biomaterials and advanced evaluation techniques.
Dr. Lee holds a B.Eng. in Biosciences from McMaster (2014) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from McMaster (2020). Before joining McMaster full-time, he worked as a Research Officer at York University’s Lassonde School of Engineering and contributed to institutional planning and UN SDG education. He currently instructs courses such as MATLS 4B03 (Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering) and MATLS 4I03/S 6I03 (Sustainable Manufacturing Processes).
His research spans biomaterials synthesis, surface characterization, and sustainable manufacturing practices. Recent trends in his publications emphasize atomic-scale imaging of biomaterials, bioprinting applications, and antimicrobial material design. He actively collaborates across interdisciplinary teams to advance regenerative medicine and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Lee has developed educational frameworks integrating UN SDGs into engineering curricula and led initiatives on institutional benchmarking and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policy development.
