Professor Bryan Horrigan is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Monash University, holding the title of Professor since 2013. Previously, he served as the Louis Waller Chair of Law and Associate Dean (Research) at Monash, establishing the Faculty's Commercial Law Group. His expertise spans corporate governance, business law, and public policy, with a focus on rights-based scrutiny of legislation and corporate social responsibility.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Queensland and earned a doctorate in law from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. His academic leadership includes roles as Director of the National Centre for Corporate Law and Policy Research and Deputy Director of the National Institute for Governance.
Key research areas include corporate governance, legal theory, legislative scrutiny, and business ethics. He has advised governmental bodies on unconscionable business conduct and contributed to reforms in Australian economic regulation. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing poverty and social justice.
Professor Horrigan has led major research projects, including ventures on venture capital programs and the High Court's international impact. He has authored books such as Corporate Social Responsibility in the 21st Century and frequently presents at institutions like Harvard and Stanford.
